Senior Health Fair Kicks Off Flu Shot Program on Oct 1
Published by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 09/29/2014 - 17:34The Camden County Freeholders have scheduled 18 site locations for the 2014 Seasonal Influenza Immunization Program. As is the tradition, the program begins at the annual Senior Health Fair, which this year takes place on Oct. 1, in Cooper River Park, starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing through 2:00 p.m. This annual event brings more than 1,000 residents to the park system for a day dedicated to public health for the region.
“In order to keep your family healthy this flu season, we encourage you to take advantage of this beneficial service provided by the Freeholder Board,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Camden County Health Department. “We are hosting immunization sites at convenient locations throughout the region, including the annual Senior Health Fair at Cooper River Park.”
The flu shots are provided for no-out-of-pocket cost. As always, we ask that seniors receiving Medicare to bring their Medicare ID cards with them.
“When you visit the 20th annual fair for your flu shot, you’ll also find dozens of health information tables, games, prizes, live music and lunch for our senior population,” Rodriguez said. “The launch of the flu shot program is coordinated with the fair because men and women age 65 and older are among the high priority groups for annual shots.”
