Township Prepares For Major Snow Storm This Weekend

With a potentially significant snow fall expected on Friday evening into Saturday, Pennsauken’s Public Works Department is preparing to deal with another round of snow and ice. As there are approximately 106 miles of road in Pennsauken maintained by Public Works, the cooperation of residents and business owners is essential to quickly and effectively deal with the snow.

First, if accumulating snow is forecast, please remove all vehicles from the street if at all possible. Residents are asked to park in their driveways. If you’ve run out of room, possibly a neighbor may have room in their driveway. In neighborhoods where this isn’t possible, work with neighbors to park on only one side of the street.

With large amounts of snow, it may take plows several passes before roads are cleared. If possible, please wait until the plows have cleared your street before shoveling out your driveway apron. Plowing has the unintentional consequence of plowing snow to the side of the road and placing snow back onto cleared aprons. If residents must clear the apron before the Public Works Department clears the street, shovel the snow to the right side (facing the street) of your driveway. This will minimize the amount of snow plowed into the opening when the plow comes down the street.

Please do not throw snow back out into the street once they are cleared. A Township ordinance prevents any resident, firm or business to shovel any snow or ice on any Township road or sidewalk.

By working together, we can make the best of an inconvenient weather situation and look forward to warmer weather in the near future.
