A Word From Pennsauken Township Regarding Our Police Force

On Sunday, May 10, there was an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer about Camden County offering a detailed proposal on how their police force would operate in Pennsauken Township. Mayor Taylor and the members of Pennsauken Township Committee would like to reiterate what was stated by Township Committeeman and Public Safety Director John Kneib in his interview: nothing regarding any change in policing is imminent. This is merely the Township doing its due diligence.

Pennsauken Township’s police force maintains an excellent record of professionalism and effectiveness in serving our community. Over the last year and a half, ten new officers have been hired by the Pennsauken Police; these men and women are currently patrolling the streets, keeping our residents safe. In addition, the Township has experienced a 16 percent reduction in crime in the past few months.

If the Township were to consider any such change in the future, it would not be done without receiving feedback from our residents through several town hall meetings, as well as discussing the issue thoroughly with our police force.

The Township Committee will continue to be up front and completely transparent with our residents and our officers regarding this issue.
