Pennsauken Housing Authority Office Address Office Hours Public Meetings The Township of Pennsauken Housing Authority (PHA) was established in 1972. The PHA is governed by a seven member Board of Commissioners.
Housing Choice Voucher Program The HCV Program is subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The PHA administers 76 tenant based housing choice vouchers for income eligible families, senior citizens, and disabled households. Through this program families receive assistance in paying a portion of their monthly rent. Families are free to choose any house or apartment as long as it meets certain requirements for housing quality and affordability. Program participants normally pay no more than 30% of monthly adjusted income towards rent. The balance of the rent is paid with the HUD subsidized funds. Our waiting list currently contains over 300 families and we are not taking applications for the HCV Program at this time. The PHA does not own or operate any public housing programs. HUD constantly measures the performance of both tenant-based voucher programs and public housing voucher programs through the SEMAP and PHAS performance evaluations. On April 27, 2009, HUD designated the Pennsauken Housing Authority Tenant-Based Program a "High Performer" with a score of 100% for fiscal year 2009.
