The silent display will honor those who gave their lives in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Each of the flags will be tagged with the name of one of the victims. The silent tribute will be on display for 24 hours from midnight to midnight on Sept. 11. Visitors are invited to stop by any time during those hours to reflect. Volunteers may also gather at the same location at midnight on Sept. 11 to remove the flags. This is the third year Pennsauken Township has made the tribute to remember the victims.

Celebrate the 300th Birthday of the Burrough-Dover House Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Come one come all to the 300th birthday celebration of the Burrough-Dover House. The big birthday bash will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 and includes fun and history, said Pennsauken Historical Society Board Member Robert Fisher-Hughes. The fun includes a Revolutionary War encampment by Col. Ogden’s 1st New Jersey Regiment and a Civil War encampment by 12th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, live music by the popular local Piney Hollow Drifters, a wildlife exhibit, including live native animals from the Freedom Center for Wildlife and living history demonstrations on tin punching, butter churning, carding wool and candle-making. Visitors can also try writing with a real quill pen and kids can play games that were popular during the Colonial era — tug-of-war, ring toss, corn darts and more. And Jingles the Clown will offer face painting from noon to 3 p.m. Docents dressed in authentic Colonial garb will offer free tours of the 300-year-old house, grounds and museum. A new tool room in the basement will be open so visitors can see some of the everyday items used by early settlers in Pennsauken. The newly-restored Nature Trail, still a work in progress, leads to the “bend of the Pennsauken Creek” where the house has been sitting since 1710, when it was built. Visitors can stroll down the path and sit on the park bench to look at the Creek. Refreshments will also be available for purchase and a big Birthday Cake will be cut up for visitors to enjoy also.
