Preparation of Recyclable Materials
Pennsauken participates in a County-wide Single Stream method, where all residential recycling is collected via yellow recycling buckets, provided by Public Works. Residents can place an unlimited amount of yellow recycling buckets out for collection each week. Recycling buckets and lids are available by visiting or contacting the Public Works office.
See the two flyers below for which materials are permitted to be recycled through the yellow buckets. A common misconception is that all plastics are recyclable. While this is true, our local program only supports the recycling of #’s 1 and #2 plastic, typically found on the bottom of plastic bottles.
See the Residential Guide to Zero Sort Recycling (PDF) for a complete listing of recyclable items you may place in your bin.
Take an interactive trip through the ReCommunity facility to find out what happens to your recyclables after they are collected and view animated videos, with education station by visiting the Republic website.
