The Pennsauken Township Public Events Committee, in association with the Pennsauken Firefighters Association, will host the fourth annual Pennsauken Harvest Festival, a celebration of heritage, arts and community.

The free event, held on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Community Recreation Complex on Westfield Ave., will highlight Pennsauken’s diverse cultural identity with a celebration of arts and community.

“We’re hoping for clear skies and cool fall temperatures for this showcase of culture and community,” says Pennsauken Mayor Betsy McBride. “We’ll have music and dance acts performing throughout the day, mixing in a variety of demonstrations by the Pennsauken Fire Department, as part of Fire Prevention Month.”

During the Pennsauken Harvest Festival, volunteers will be collecting specific items to help the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Haunted Hay Ride

This month, two popular Pennsauken events are combined into one: the Township’s annual Haunted Hay Ride and the “Bite Night” Food Truck Event. Both events will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 6:15 to 9:00 p.m. at the softball field behind the Pennsauken Police Administration Building at Rt. 130 and Bethel Ave.

Sponsored by the Township’s Youth Action Committee, the Haunted Hay Ride features ghosts, ghouls, goblins and the walking dead providing scary fun for the whole family, as guests ride around in a hay wagon pulled by a tractor. It’s a great bargain, as the cost for the Haunted Hay Ride is just $2.00 per person.

Volunteers are once again needed for this year’s Haunted Hay Ride. Generous students and residents are asked to dress up as ghosts, ghouls, goblins, vampires and zombies to help provide some scary fun for hay ride goers. As this is a family event, risqué costumes are not allowed. To sign up as a volunteer, or for more information about Pennsauken’s Haunted Hay Ride, e-mail Elwood Martz at emartz@twp.pennsauken.nj.us or call (856) 665-1000 x151.

The event will also feature several food trucks, all of which offer items that are easy to walk around with. Most food trucks are cash only, although some can handle credit card transactions. Due to parking limitations, there will not be seating available at the event.

Trick or Treating 2017

Trick or Treating 2017

Location

Pennsauken, NJ
United States

The countdown to “Operation: Trick or Treat” has begun. Kids are already planning not just their Halloween costumes, but their trick or treat route as well, making sure to hit the houses in town that have the good stuff. To keep Pennsauken’s boys and ghouls safe this Halloween, the Township has an ordinance in place.

Pennsauken has a curfew in place not just on Oct. 31, but the two days prior to Halloween. During this period, any minor under the age of 16, regardless of where they live, are not allowed out on the streets of Pennsauken after the hour of 8:00 p.m. unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Your buddy who just turned 18 isn’t going to cut it. It has to be an adult who’s legally responsible for you.

Trick or treating is for kids, not adults. It’s unlawful for anyone over the age of 14 to go out trick or treating, unless you’re acting as a chaperone. And unfortunately, chaperones can’t ask for any candy or treats. They have to wait until they get home to help their kids “sort” the candy. Trick or treating on Oct. 31 runs from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m.
