Bike And Train Ride Held On June 10
Published by Township_Web_Admin on Fri, 06/09/2017 - 00:24Did you know that several trail networks, including the Circuit Trails, East Coast Greenway, and Delaware River Heritage Trail, are all planned to run through Pennsauken Township?
The Pennsauken Environmental Commission, in partnership with the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, invites all residents and their families to a Circuit Trails/East Coast Greenway Bike and Ride event on Saturday, June 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Environmental professionals and volunteers will showcase the on-road and off-road, existing and planned, trail segments that run throughout Pennsauken.
This family-friendly event will take participants on a guided three-mile round trip bike ride along a segment of River Rd., as well as a brief River Line train ride along a portion of the Pennsauken Township waterfront, showing future planned off-road trail alignments. The event will involve the closing of a portion of River Rd. for public safety and enjoyment. Open space and trails groups will be present sharing information about trails and open space in the region, as well as some outdoor activities throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.
The Bike and Ride event participants will meet at the Pennsauken Township Recreation Complex at Bethel and Westfield avenues. The rain date for the event is Sunday, June 11.
Residents may participate in all or just some of the available activities. Don’t have a bike? Stop by the Municipal Building and sign out a bike from the Pennsauken Bike Share Program.
All of the activities and events will be free of charge. Funding for the event is being covered by Pennsauken Township, the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, and an Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) grant.
